Multi-Sport Calorie Estimation

Different sports demand vastly different levels of energy. A 60-minute squash match burns significantly more calories than a 60-minute round of golf. This calculator covers 50+ sports across 8 categories — from racket sports and martial arts to winter activities and track events — using MET values from the 2024 Compendium of Physical Activities.

How MET-Based Estimation Works

Each sport has three MET values based on intensity level:

  • Recreational: Casual play, warm-up level, learning phase
  • Competitive: Match play, organized competition, sustained effort
  • Vigorous: Tournament level, maximal effort, high-intensity intervals
Calories = (MET × 3.5 × body weight in kg × minutes) ÷ 200
