What Is a Calorie Surplus?

Surplus Rates Explained
- Conservative (+250 kcal/day): Targets ~0.25 kg/week. Slower pace generally results in a higher proportion of lean tissue gained
- Moderate (+400 kcal/day): Targets ~0.4 kg/week. A balanced approach for most individuals doing regular resistance training
- Aggressive (+500 kcal/day): Targets ~0.5 kg/week. Faster pace may include more accompanying fat gain; often used by beginners with higher adaptation potential
