What Is Age Grading?
Age grading converts your finish time into what it would be equivalent to if you were competing at open-class (peak performance) age. This allows a 55-year-old runner to fairly compare their performance with a 25-year-old using a standardized percentage.[1]

How Age Factors Work
Age factors represent the expected decline in performance with age, based on world-record analysis across all age groups. An age factor of 0.85 means that a world-class performance at that age would be 85% of the open-class world record time.[2]
Key characteristics: factors are 1.0 for ages under 30 (peak performance years), decline gradually from 30–50, then accelerate beyond 60.
